My name is Warren Layton and I’m a Systems Librarian. I currently work with the Evergreen ILS and other fun open source software used in libraries. I obtained my MLIS in early 2009.
In my previous life, I graduated with a B.Sc.A. in Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa. I then worked for 3.5 years at a small telecom start-up company in Ottawa where I wrote device drivers, application software, and implemented software to automatically run parts of their automated test plan.
In this blog, I will focus solely on topics that are of professional interest to me: open source tools for libraries, digital libraries, copyright and intellectual property, and general library/software/data issues.

While the topics covered on this blog are related to my profession, the views expressed in these posts are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer (or anyone else, for that matter).
